Amber Alert Issued After Triple Homicide

Deputies said an Amber Alert has been
issued for two children after a triple homicide in Buncombe County on Thursday
afternoon.

The homicide happened at a home on Old Highway 19-23.

Deputies said they are looking for 6-year-old Hayes Heatwole and 10-year-old
Haley Heatwole.

Hayes was described as a white male with longer, shaggy blond hair and
blue eyes. Haley was described as a white female with brown, shoulder-length
hair and hazel eyes.
Deputies said the children are believed to be traveling with Richard Heatwole in
a white Toyota Tundra truck with North Carolina license plate number YNS-8257 or
LTS-3741.
Anyone with information on Hayes, Haley or Richard Heatwole’s locations should
call 911 immediately.
Deputies said Richard Heatwole should be considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect is Richard Doughlas Heatwole a 45 year old white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.


The suspect vehicle is a White 1986 Toyota Truck Extended Cab with NC tag number YNS-8257. The vehicle possibly has a camper cover that is white in color. The truck may have gold stripes and rusted fender wells.

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C.
Officials say a standoff with a man who police suspect of killing his ex-wife and two others in western North Carolina ended when the man killed himself early Friday morning.

Heatwole was involved in a standoff with law enforcement in Alexander County, N.C., north of Charlotte. Investigators on the scene said they could see the two children through a window.

The standoff ended when deputies entered the home and found Richard Heatwole dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
