Rest in Peace ~Aretha Maria Fernandez~

I was busy getting information out about a new Rilya Alert, when I noticed a new post written by Delilah, on Mothers are Vanishing...

A South Carolina mother's worst fears are unfolding as remains were found and authorities are 99% sure they belong to Aretha Maria Fernandez who has been missing since last September 3 leaving behind a small son.

Isn't this just so sad that a beautiful woman, a mother of a 5 year old son, has been found, probably a victim of murder, and probably at the hands of someone she knew and trusted.

May God keep this little boy in His arms and protect him.

Maria was a dear co-worker and friend. For ten years we worked together at Ellen Sager nursing home. On september 3,2008, Ellen Sager not only lost a great nurse, but also a dear member of our family. In our hearts Maria's warmth and love will be felt for always. Although she was taken from us her spirit shall live on in us. We at Ellen Sager Nursing Home are not just warm bodies in a nursing home facility but we are family united to take care of those who need us. I watched Maria as she first started as a CNA. She dedicated herself to her work, school and of course her family. I saw her as she worked different shifts, pregnant and tired as she studied to get through LPN school. Finally when she reached that star she realized the strong woman that she was and reached farther to become a Registered Nurse. Everything that she did in her life was to give her son the best life and be the best example ever. This Maria did. In Heaven we know Maria is now. Never in those woods but always with God. To Maria's family, our paryers and love are with you. Maria's inspiration, warmth, love and dedication shall live in all. Maria gave us all inspiration that we can acomplish anything we desire just as she did. Forever we will love her.
A Fellow Co-worker @ Ellen Sager, a friend, & a loving family member!

Oh no! I wrote a story about Maria on my blog that talked about how the media wasn't talking about this story. This is so sad. I hope they can determine who did this.

It's ashame that Maria's life was stolen from her, and as Delilah said, now there's a 5 year old boy without a mother. I can only hope that justice will be served.
I am sorry for your loss, Anon. I realize that I did not know Maria personally, but reading the different articles of candle light vigils held for her spoke volumes of the friends she had.
~prayers~ for Maria's son, her family, and her friends

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Marie was a very young beautiful lady with her entire life ahead of her. What gave someone the right to take her and leave her son alone.
This case was handled terribly. It makes me ashamed to say that I am from union S.C.
Justice, will it be served in union or put aside????
God bless this family and have mercy on this police dept.

I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family and also to all her family at the nursing home that she worked. I am a nurse myself, my story not much different than Anita's where I worked as a CNA, then LPN, then RN. I started off my career in nursing homes and know how close we become with your co-workers as well as those we take care of and, nursing home work takes people that are extremely special. It's always very sad when we loose one of our own, especially in such a tragic and needless way. So again, my deepest condolences to you all for this great loss.
