Cedar City » The body of a Enoch teen who disappeared in 2007 was found Wednesday in a car that apparently rolled down a cliff.

The body is believed to be that of 18-year-old Christopher Robin Coan.

A man was searching for his dog in Right Hand Canyon about 7 miles east of Cedar City when he came upon a wrecked car and informed the authorities. Searchers reached the car early Thursday and found one body in the car, said Enoch Police Chief David Browning. Clothing on the body matched descriptions of what Coan was wearing when he disappeared Sept. 3, 2007, after leaving a Subway sandwich shop in Cedar City, Browning said.

The vehicle identification number on the wrecked maroon and silver Chevrolet Blazer matches Coan's car, Browning said.

The car was about 1,500 feet from the winding mountain road, Browning said.

Browning said Coan's family has been notified. They were shocked but hoped the news would bring closure, Browning said.

Law enforcement and Coan's family have been searching for him since the night he disappeared. Search teams combed Iron County's many canyons and wide back country. Enoch police pursued tips from the pubic -- all of which appear to have been false.

One tip said Coan and his Blazer were at a Park City gas station a few days after his disappearance. An animal control officer in Silver City, N.M., thought she spotted the Blazer there.

Although the trail is cold, and has been since December 2007, the search is still alive, private investigator Marquita Davis said.

Davis said she has followed tips in New Mexico and Colorado which led to nothing, but still spends hours daily working on the case."(There are) homeless shelters we're searching," she said.

"There's a monthly search of prisons. Coroners' offices are contacted on a monthly basis. This is definitely still an active case."Detective Jackson Ames of the Enoch Police Department, said officers are working with Davis and Dave Coan, Chris Coan's father, to follow up on leads.

Someone knows something! I would like to correct that Chris DID NOT have any money with him, that there was a one hundred dollar bill still in his wallet left at home that if he was planning to leave or runaway or whatever that he DID NOT take time get stop by home and pickup this money nor his wallet nor I.D. or clothing nor his beloved backpack loaded with his favorite books even though, as the article states he had eight hours before anyone would be home and see him. This must be clarified. He disappeared with nothing, nada, zip and this is why I think someone in Cedar City knows what happened to him and is covering it up. Please don't let 13 years go by without coming forward with what information you have as in the case of Kiplyn Davis.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Investigators have found the body of a missing 13-year-old developmentally disabled girl's body in Woodbridge Friday afternoon, police said.
It was found near the Old Hickory Golf Club, off Asdee Lane.

Investigators have been searching for the body of 13-year-old Alexis Glover, who disappeared after leaving the Central Library in Manassas on Wednesday.

Alexis was found Friday 7.9 miles from where she disappeared, Prince William County police Maj. Ray Colgan said.

Chief Deane told reporters Friday night that it appears the girl was slain. He said the circumstances surrounding the case point to a homicide, but would not elaborate.

The adoptive mother of Alexis Glover has been arrested and is charged with felony child neglect and filing a false police report.

Earlier Tuesday, Prince William County Police searched the house of Alfreedia Leona Gregg-Glover looking for clues into her adopted daughter's death. At around 10:00pm Tuesday night, Alexis Glover's adoptive mother was arrested. She is currently behing held without bond.

Police believe that Alexis Glover was murdered at an unknown location, and her body was dumped in Woodbridge. As of now, no murder charges have been filed in Glover's death.

The New Year's Day death of 22-year-old Oscar Grant has led to angry street protests amid allegations from the family's attorney that some of the officers used racial slurs.

The officer remains free and has not been charged with any wrongdoing. And some experts have questioned whether he fired his gun deliberately or mistakenly believed he was using his stun gun instead.

At a rally Wednesday attended by hundreds of people, Shawanda Thomas held a fluorescent yellow sign that read: "Oscar Grant: Murdered! The Whole Damn System is Guilty."

Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums called for calm. "Even with our anger and our pain, let's still address each other with a degree of civility and calmness and not make this tragedy an excuse to engage in violence," he said. "I don't want anybody hurt. I don't want anybody killed."

Grant's family has filed a $25 million wrongful-death claim against BART, the San Francisco Bay Area's commuter rail system, and relatives want Mehserle to be criminally charged.

"They want justice, but they don't want any more violence," said John Burris, an attorney for Grant's family. "That officer hasn't been prosecuted ... That's why people don't have confidence in the system right now."

The video footage has led to debate over whether the officer knowingly shot Grant, as the victim's family alleges.

Reports of police officers mistaking a handgun for a stun gun are rare, but not unheard of. In 2006, a sheriff's deputy in Washington state accidentally shot and wounded a disturbed man after mistakenly using his .40-caliber gun instead of his stun gun.

Bruce Siddle, a use-of-force expert who viewed the video clips, theorized that Mehserle was working under stress in a hostile situation and did not realize he was firing his pistol.

"I suspect he thought he was reaching for his Taser," said Siddle, founder of PPCT Management Systems, an Illinois company that trains law-enforcement officers in use-of-force. "If he was under stress, he would not be able to distinguish between a Taser and his firearm. You have video footage that seems to suggest that this officer made a tragic mistake."

But George Kirkham, a professor of criminology at the Florida State University who also viewed the footage, said he finds that hard to believe because most Taser stun guns do not look or feel like pistols, and the officer fired in a manner consistent with a handgun, not a Taser.

The death of this beautiful child is wrong on so many levels, that I've had to step back a few times before writing this. I'm not even sure with which level to start!

Police say Diane Shakir, owner of All Star Day Care on Patch Street, knew Imani Jennings was being abused. They say she even took pictures of the abuse to allegedly protect herself from being charged, but never told police that the abuse was taking place.

Investigators say as a state-licensed day care owner, Shakir was required by law to report child abuse. Police say her license has now been revoked.

If convicted, Shakir could face up to a year in jail.

Imani’s mother, Cherron Patterson, stopped bringing Imani to the daycare center two weeks before the toddler’s death; investigators say Patterson told them she stopped bringing Imani there because she knew that the daycare center was aware of the abuse.

But then Shakir isn't the only one who turned her head to the abuse. Neighbors look back now, and admit that they suspected something was going on. I'm sure that Imani is looking down from above, and thanking these concerned neighbors for speaking up on her behalf!

Autopsy results showed Imani had been abused in the past.
Her mother, Cherron Patterson, is facing assault and child endangerment charges.
Investigators say Patterson's 15-year-old boyfriend is the one who killed the little girl. He is accused of second-degree murder.

Are current family laws partly to blame for the death of Imani Jennings?
Of all the coverage I've read on Imani Jennings, one thing barely mentioned is the fact that Lee, Imani's father, was fighting for custody. It seems as if this fact is added as an after-thought, yet I keep thinking that this tiny fact is a key element in the life and death of this innocent child!

"But if we are honest with ourselves, we'll admit that what too many fathers also are is missing - missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it.
Yes, we need more cops on the street. Yes, we need fewer guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them. Yes, we need more money for our schools, and more outstanding teachers in the classroom, and more afterschool programs for our children. Yes, we need more jobs and more job training and more opportunity in our communities.

But we also need families to raise our children. We need fathers to realize that responsibility does not end at conception. We need them to realize that what makes you a man is not the ability to have a child - it's the courage to raise one.

Would Lee and his mother have noticed all the unexplainable bruises?
Was there a chance to save Imani?

The government and various welfare programs?
How many of these mothers are parenting alone by choice, because they are unwilling to allow these children to know their father?
I'm not going to start spouting numbers, because IMO, statistics are only as good as the one sided questionaire they're printed on.
I CAN, however, point to several websites of parents who are fighting every day, just to be involved in their children's lives.

Some parents who aren't involved in their childrens lives, are only guilty of not having enough money to 'play the game!'
What about help for the fathers (and moms) who are absent only because a selfish, insecure, custodial parent chooses to deny any visitation?

Authorities believe they have located the dead body of a Paulding County woman missing for 12 days.

Cobb County Police Department spokesman Dana Pierce said “we are all but certain” they’ve identified the body of Laneeka Varnado, who was last seen by her father the Monday before Thanksgiving. An Austell property owner discovered her silver Mercedes, with the 22-year-old inside, Saturday afternoon off the C.H. James Parkway on State Route 6.

Laneeka Varnado vanished Monday and her family members from out of town have joined in the search.

Varnado was reported as missing by her family on November 25, 2008.

Varnado is described as a 22-year-old black female, about 5'5" and weighing approximately 105 lbs.

Authorities said Varnado left her residence in Paulding County on November 24, 2008 to attend a function at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.

Varnado called her father throughout the night to let him know of her whereabouts. The last phone call was made around 11:13 p.m. to her father. She advised him that she may stop at another location on her way home, but that she would call him to let him know if she did.

Varnado has not been heard from since.

The $2,000.00 reward offer will begin November 25th at midnight and run for ten days straight ending on December 5th of 2008.

Never Forget Mya Lyons

I'm almost sure that I'd make a lousy reporter.
I can't read about the senseless murder of a beautiful, promising, 9 year old little girl, and remain objective. I find myself in tears...I can almost hear and feel moms heart wrenching cries during Mya's funeral.

Mya’s mother, Ericka Barnes, could barely make it down the aisle by herself to see her daughter who had a tiara on her head and was dressed in pink. She had pink flowers and a Barbie doll laying by her side inside of a white casket trimmed in pink.
Barnes could be heard outside of the sanctuary as she walked into Monument of Faith church where the funeral was held, stomping her feet and screaming, “No! No! My baby! No!” as “Jesus Loves the Little Children” played in the background.

As of yet, nobody is quite sure what happened the night of July 14, 2008.
Other than mentioning that this is an ongoing investigation, I don't really want to discuss the gory details. These details have already been all over the news in the last few months, so if you really need to read the details, you can google it!

The word drumming in my head right now is

Acording to family members, Mya loved math and reading, and was an honor student in her elementary school. It seems as if Mya was entering an 'in-between transition.' She still loved to play with barbies, jump ropes, and ride her bike, yet was looking forward to her first cell phone for her birthday. A birthday that was stolen!
HOW do you find justice for a young girl who's life was stolen without care?
Would a life sentence in jail bring justice to a child, who had the whole world before her?

How can an 'ideal of fairness' erase the last moments Mya's father had with his daughter?

"Richard Lyons has cooperated fully and voluntarily with the police investigation from the very beginning. He has participated, without benefit of an attorney, in several interviews with the police detectives," Blumenthal said. "Richard, as well as other family members, voluntarily gave the police DNA samples at their request."
Lyons says he just wants continue the grieving process in peace.
Richard Lyons has not been charged with any crime and police have not called him a suspect or a person of interest in the murder of his daughter.

I PRAY that this is the truth, as I am going against the seemingly standard
'make them prove their innocence, and ruin their life until then'
reporting format.

Is there a 'fair punishment' equal to the amount of pain a mother must feel, when her six year old son asks when his sister is coming home?

She has no answer when Mya's brother asks where his sister has gone or when she's coming home. She lets the 6-year-old boy sleep with the "Princess" pillow, the one with Mya's photograph on it. She winces when her son sees a toy in a store that he thinks Mya might like and pleads with her to buy it.

The murder of little Mya Lyons has affected family, friends, and communtiy. Neighbors are insecure and torn apart, not knowing who it was that committed such an unspeakable crime.

I don't think there is any amount of punishment in this world that will ever right these wrongs! I don't believe that punishment equals justice.
Punishment is just a form of resolution.
Don't get me wrong, whoever murdered Mya should pay dearly...
I'm just saying that the murderer behind bars, STILL don't tip the scales in favor of Justice for Mya.

Justice for Mya is the community becoming closer and working together to make sure this does not happen to more innocent children, instead of allowing this tragedy to rip it apart.

Afterwards, Kublai Toure, executive director of Amer-I-Can Ill., a life management skills organization, said the community needs to start talking.
"It's time to stop professional lip service and time for real action. Real men need to step up. This is our responsibility. Somebody on this block knows who did this. We have to stop this foolishness," Toure said, making his own plea for justice.

As you sit down to Thanksgiving dinner next week, please take a minute to think about Mya and her family. They have just been robbed one of their most precious gifts, and I highly doubt that Thanksgiving this year will be a festive one. As you bow your heads, please take the time to include this grieving family in your prayers.

The body of a 27-year-old Philadelphia man was found in his heavily damaged car Saturday night, more than five weeks after the vehicle apparently crashed into a deep, wooded ravine off of Route 1 in Falls, police said.

In August of 08, Janine Todt was reported missing. She has not been located. OR has she?

A badly decomposed body was found Monday in a wooded area off Moselem Church Road in Richmond Township, authorities said.

The skeletal remains could not be immediately identified, according to Terri L. Straka, Berks County deputy coroner.

Straka said she could not determine if the body was male or female.

An autopsy will be performed today in Reading Hospital, she said.

Fleetwood police are investigating, Chief Ray Nester said.
Fragments of clothing were found at the scene, he said.

"They're probably going to have to use dental records to identify the body," Nester said.

Hunters discovered the body in a heavily wooded area about 300 yards off the 100 block of Moselem Church Road, Nester said.

In August, Janine M. Todt, 42, whose residence is in the 200 block of Moselem Church Road, was reported missing in the area, Nester said. She had not been found as of Monday.

At the time, Fleetwood police reported that Todt suffered from a sleeping disorder and walked in the area near her home at night.

Volunteer firefighters and police, including K-9 units and officers on horseback, called off the search after combing the area for several days.

Autopsy confirms that the remains found on Monday are indeed those of Janine Todt.

A body found in a wooded area off Moselem Church Road in Richmond Township was identified Wednesday as that of a 43-year-old township woman who had been reported missing three months ago, officials in the Berks County coroner's office said.

The skeletal remains of Janine Todt were found by hunters Monday on the property of Moselem Springs Golf Club, authorities said.

After an autopsy failed to identify the remains, the coroner's office called in a forsenics expert to make the identification using dental records, Coroner Dennis J. Hess said.

The cause and manner of Todt's death have not yet been determined, Hess said. He said his office has ordered further tests as part of the investigation.

Fleetwood police also are continuing to investigate.

Todt, who had lived nearby in the 200 block of Moselem Church Road, had been reported missing in August.

At the time, police said she suffered from a sleeping disorder and walked in the area near her home at night.

On Sunday August 10 Station 33 was alerted to Richmond Township in the area of Schwoyer and Moselem Church Roads to search for a missing person. Upon arrival it was discovered that a 42 year old female, Janine Todt, was missing. She had left the home that she was staying at early that morning. Station 33 requested assistance from other area companies including Walnuttown, Fleetwood, Kutztown, Kempton, Fleetwood Ambulance and Goodwill Fire Company of Hyde Park. A large amount of help and resources was also given by Middle Creek Search and Rescue, Station 1-14 from Lancaster County. Food was also provided by the Salvation Army and numerous other volunteers assisted. The search lasted all day Sunday and part of Monday, and the missing person was never found. The search was coordinated using ATV patrols, road patrols, search dogs, and horses. The Virginville Fire Company would like to thank all of the assisting companies, assisting organizations, and assisting individuals for their help. Columbus County sheriff’s deputies found remains this week, which they suspect are those of Carol Marie Batten Dowless, a 26-year-old mother of four who disappeared three years ago.

A Columbus County man accused of murdering his wife made his first appearance in court Thursday.
Jamie Lee Dowless is charged with the murder of Carol Batten Dowless. His next court date is set for November 4, 2008 in district court.
Jamie Lee Dowless is being held in the Columbus County jail without bond.
Deputies arrested Jamie Lee Dowless Wednesday. Sheriff Chris Batten said he has not confessed, but has offered enough information to investigators to believe they have the right man in custody.

Aretha Maria Fernandez Missing!!! (South Carolina)

Aretha Maria Fernandez, 31, was last seen about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept 3) when she left work at the Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Her cell phone is off, and she hasn't reported to her other job at the Spartanburg Regional Heart Center or contacted her family and 5-year-old son, according to the sheriff's office.
Ms. Fernandez is a black woman, 5 feet 3 inches tall who weighs 175 pounds. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call:

Those who know Aretha Maria Fernandez describe her as a responsible person who worked two jobs and was always where she was supposed to be.Sheriff Howard Wells said that is why Ms. Fernandez' mother was in fear for her daughter's life when she notified deputies Friday that her daughter was missing.Now, Wells said, authorities “suspect the worst” in the disappearance of the 31-year-old nurse and mother.

Investigators say a man gave them false information in the case of a missing Union County woman.
He is now behind bars.
Maria Fernandez, 31, disappeared eight days ago. The Union County Sheriff’s Office believes she may be the victim of foul play.
The sheriff says last week they interviewed a man named Dennis Bruce Talley who is an acquantaince of Fernandez and her boyfriend.
The sheriff says he gave them information on two occassions that proved to be false and he says this hampered the investigation at a critical time.
The sheriff cannot say what the information was. He says Talley failed a polygraph and is charged with “false swearing.”

On September 5th, 2005, Carol Marie Dowless disappeared. Her family says they saw her the evening of the 4th, but by morning she was gone. All that was found was her car in a pasture in Columbus County.

Details of Disappearance
On April 16, 2007, Travis Baker was scheduled to work at 5:30pm at MDI, a food distribution company in Caldwell County, North Carolina. He never showed up for work and his last two paychecks were never picked up.

A little after 9:00am that morning, he spoke with his parents and said he was planning to meet his girlfriend for lunch. He sent his girlfriend a text message at 11:27am saying he was looking forward to seeing her. That was the last time his phone was used.

Travis was last seen driving his red 1998 Chevrolet Camaro, license plate number WRP8627. Police are searching for the vehicle, but it may be a different color by now.

Details of Disappearance:
Chris left the Subway sandwich shop in Enoch where he works at 8:15 on Monday night, September 3, 2007. He did not go home, and no one has seen him since. Chris' live-in girlfriend, reported him missing the following day. His car, a 1994 red and silver Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, license number 78596, is also missing. Police have conducted both ground and aerial searches, but they have been unsuccessful. When investigators searched Christopher's workstation at Subway, they discovered a piece of paper on which he had written the numbers "208," which police believe may be part of a phone number; however, it is unknown if it's an area code or the first three digits of a number. "208" is the area code for Idaho.
A truck driver reported seeing Chris' truck on September 8, 2007 at a Sinclair gas station near Park City, Utah. The truck driver was able to accurately describe his truck, including three stickers on the back window. One says "The Wizz cartoon," another says "Jerry Bear," and the third says "Beatles." Unfortunately, the security cameras at the gas station weren't all in working order, so the sighting cannot be confirmed. The location is approximately 246 miles from Enoch.
Chris enjoys reading, and doesn't watch a lot of television. He had little, if any, money with him, and there has been no activity on his bank account.
