What Happened To Damien Nettles???

I came across this video of Damien Nettles by following up on a Myspace comment, written by Joe Chisholm.

Anyone With New Facts Or Information
Relating To The Disappearance Of
Damien Nettles Can Call
Hampshire Constabulary On 101(Mention Operation Ridgewood)
Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111

I was thinking of the tragedy of this case just recently. Anniversaries are excruciating and it is small comfort to families that others know what they are experiencing right now. My family doesn’t know the words either, that would help assuage ambiguous grief but we understand...

Damien Nettles was last seen in the Cowes area of the Isle of Wight on November 2nd, 1996.
Damien was 16 years old when he was last seen. He was described as 6'3 tall, slim build with brown hair shaved at the back and brown eyes.
He was wearing dark fleece jacket and dark blue jeans and black boots. The above photographs show him aged 16 years old and also age progressed to how he may look in his 20's.

There is a more recent article, linked below, extensively covering Damien's disappearance

Please don't allow Them to remain
The Forgotten

The Forgotten Network gathers in coffee shops and living rooms to discuss leads, clues and tips, each bringing their own motivations and skills to the table, each driven by a deep sense of purpose. Donovan is a former detective who left the force after the disappearance of his own young daughter. Through the use of his investigative skills, he can help piece together each victim's story: retracing their footsteps and unearthing why they died by learning how they lived. Working against the clock to give each victim a name before being buried a John or Jane Doe, these amateur detectives are in it to bring closure... and win justice. ABC's, "The Forgotten."

To ABC, Bonanza Productions, Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and Warner Bros. Television:

We, the undersigned, greatly enjoy watching the new the forgotten TV show on the ABC network. It is a gripping drama that keeps us on the edge of our seats. It’s a great medical show with lots of action, interesting stories, and interesting characters.

Please find a way to keep the forgotten on the air. We are devoted viewers who will continue to watch the program, encourage others to do the same, and will support the series’ advertisers as well. Please keep it going, either on ABC or, if necessary, on another channel.
The forgotten: Petition to Continue the ABC TV Series

Over the last few years, I have connected with many other people who are unfortunate enough to know what it's like to have a loved one gone missing.
Even though the stories of how a loved one went missing are different, the emotions of anguish, frustration, and pain are replicated throughout the 'left-behind' community.
Yet, instead of allowing this pain and frustration to consume their lives, many people are forming an alliance on sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter.
People from all walks of life are banding together to form a network, and just like the amateur detectives on The Forgotten, many have been bringing their own motivations and skills to the table.

Jan Smolinski-Billy's mother, has spent thousands of hours leading an effort to alter the way law enforcement officers respond to the report of a missing adult. She and her husband, Bill, successfully shepherded a bill through the state legislature last year, but at the last second the bill was watered down by the Police Officers Standard and Training Council that made the recommendations voluntary.

The Smolinski's, with help from their state representative in Cheshire, Vicki Nardello, are attempting to make the changes mandatory in this legislative cycle. In addition, Janice Smolinski has been prodding Senator Joe Lieberman and Congressman Chris Murphy to sponsor a bill in Congress that mandates medical examiners across the country to take samples from unidentified remains and upload the information into NAMUS, a national data bank trying to link 160,000 missing people in the United States to the 60,000 unidentified dead being stored around the country.

Janice Smolinski has become a national spokesperson for NAMUS and was a speaker at conferences in Texas, Colorado and Maryland in 2008 that targeted law enforcement and medical examiners. The Cool Justice Report

Project Jason

Before June 13th, 2001, we were just an ordinary family living a peaceful, happy existence. My husband, Jim, and I worked outside the home, spent time with our two wonderful sons, attended Mass every Sunday, and enjoyed the company of family and friends. On that fateful Wednesday, our lives changed forever. Our family unit was brutally ripped apart when our oldest son, Jason, then age 19, disappeared without a trace from our driveway.
Project Jason Mission Statement:
Our mission as a non profit organization is to create and increase public awareness of missing people through a variety of outreach and educational activities. Project Jason seeks to bring hope and assistance to families of the missing by providing resources and support

In 1994, Mrs. Caison founded the non-profit CUE Center for Missing Persons, which is focused on finding the missing, advocating for their causes, and supporting their families.

Offering a wide range of free services, CUE has since helped more than 8,700 families in what is often the most confusing and desperate times of their lives. In addition to providing services for the missing and their families, CUE offers college internships and youth mentoring programs.

CUE is entirely donation funded and staffed by volunteers, including Mrs. Caison, who takes no salary from the organization.

The GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation’s mission is to educate the public by utilizing entertainment to create awareness and media attention for missing persons world-wide. GINA was created in honor of musician Gina Bos, who disappeared from Lincoln, Nebraska on October 17, 2000 after a performance. Her case remains unsolved. 411Gina.org
Squeaky Wheel Tour® is a grass roots effort to gain attention for hundreds of missing children and adults whose disappearances do not have the scandal, intrigue, or national appeal to garner the attention of the public.

This is an amazing opportunity that we have right here and right now to gain public attention for the missing, which will in turn create momentum and hope for us all.

The Squeaky Wheel starts here. . .with me, with you...we have the power to make a difference both individually and collectively. We are the families of the missing, the artists and communities who care about the missing, the non-for-profit organizations dedicated to the missing, and the media who sees that attention is needed to bring someone home.

Even people, who've never experienced the anguish of a loved one gone missing, have shown a genuine compassion! I don't think I've met a group of people as willing to learn and understand the confusions and pain of the 'left-behind' community searching for their missing loved one as Peace 4 the Missing - created by Maggie's Rose, writes:
Can We Bring Peace?
No, we can't...In my humble opinion and own life experience, only God can do that. And sometimes, even HIS peace is not one we are capable of truly comprehending nor accepting in this life on earth.
So, why are we here then, at Peace 4 the Missing? Why do we and why should we care? Because, even if, God willing, we are "only" somehow able to bring about even one mere drop, the tiniest of sprinkle of a peaceful, even momentarily peaceful feeling to those forced to endure the anguishing pain of the missing, then it is worth it.

A second member of Peace 4 the Missing that deserves a round of applause is Delilah, who says: Not long ago Maggiesrose and I started talking about building a place where families of missing persons could come and do what they needed to do to make their life a little bit more comforting despite the pain and sorrow they have endured. We talked and talked about what to offer and just how to do it and finally came up with the premise that if we build it, they will come. LostFaces of the Missing

The above mentioned are only a few of those, whose hard work and dedication for the missing and the families that have been left-behind, can never be over-appreciated. I cannot possibly list all organizations who have used their skills in one way or another, to 'Help Bring Them Home.' Thank you for your time and effort, and for your sincere dedication to keep our missing from becoming The Forgotten.

On to Brazil... A Dads fight to find his daughter
Update: Emily Machado Located

FINALLY, Emily has been added to NCMEC.
Missing: Mar 27, 2008
Missing From: BERWYN, IL.

Emily
may be in the company of her non-custodial mother. They may still be in the local area or they may travel out of state. Emily is Biracial. She is Hispanic and White. Emily's ears are pierced. Her nickname is Emma.

I have talked with Michael a few times. I KNOW he has been going through a rough time, fighting to get Emily entered into NCMEC. This Dad has hit too many brick walls for the last 6 months, and could use your support. So, even if you don't know of Emily's whereabouts, please stop by his Myspace profile, or Emily Machado Missing on Facebook, and show your support.

You can find more information about Emily on Find Emily Machado

I also posted on Current, trying to get Emily's information out there.
"What if the police and NCMEC took 6 months to report YOUR child missing?"

The above information about Emily was originally posted on October 1, 2008.
A year and 1/2 later, Emily is still missing!

Reporting
Dana Kozlov

It began as a one-man crusade to get his kidnapped daughter back.
CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports the crusade is about to go global.
Former Berwyn resident Michael Sanchez is ready to fly to South America to find his daughter Emily himself.

He knows she's there and has been since she was kidnapped by her mother more than a year ago. He hasn't seen or talked to her since.

You may be surprised to learn that Sanchez isn't even remotely alone.
Man To Search For Missing Daughter In Brazil

"You may be surprised to learn that Sanchez isn't even remotely alone"
This statement continues to bounce around in my head. I am hardly surprised. Parental abduction is something I post about quite frequently. A simple google search, on parental abductions, will reveal many left-behind-parents reaching out for help... through online groups, forums, and blogs, across the globe!

Dad Fights To Get His Son Back
Liam McCarty

Update-ish: The international custody case of Michael McCarty fighting for his son is briefly mentioned in yet another international custody nightmare.
Fox News-Published February 19, 2013
By Perry Chiaramonte

New York City photographer Michael McCarty has fought since 2007 for custody of his son Liam, after his ex-wife took the boy to her native Italy. Despite Liam's mother, Manuela Antonelli, being declared unfit to care for her child and McCarty having been given full legal custody, child services officials in Italy have refused to give McCarty his son back... Supreme Court says Army dad must be heard in custody battle for daughter
On March 05, 2007 5 year-old Liam Gabriele McCarty, a United States citizen, was kidnapped from his home in Manhattan and taken to Rome, Italy where he has been languishing in an Italian orphanage.

This appalling abduction was aided and facilitated by the Italian consulate in direct violation of explicit court orders that Liam not be removed from the United States. The kidnapper whom the consulate assisted is Manuela Antonelli, a psychologically disturbed international fugitive currently sought by Interpol, and on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. She is also Liam’s mother.

Have You Seen Me? ~Paul Allard~

I have been featuring 'Have You Seen Me?' as they arrive in my mailbox. They are indeed those small pictures on the back of junk mail that's often times thrown away, without even a second glance. If you googled Paul Allard because of the "Have You Seen Me?" picture, and that's how you wound up reading this, please take an extra moment, and drop me a line on the comment box.

The disappearance of Paul Allard is considered the oldest case of a missing child, in Miami. The most recent 'update' I could find was an article written 3 years ago.

Miami's Oldest Missing Child Cold Case Reopened
POSTED: Monday, January 16, 2006
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. --

Miami-Dade police are revisiting one of the oldest cases on county books -- the disappearance of a 14-year-old boy nearly 30 years ago.

Carol Allard, who lives in East Hartford, Conn., still agonizes about her son, who vanished while staying with relatives in South Miami-Dade.

"I'm always looking and wondering. It's been a nightmare," Allard said.

Paul Allard was last seen on Aug. 13, 1976. He had called his mother to tell her he wanted to come home. They made plans for an uncle to pick him up.

On that same day, Allard walked along Bird Road near 112th Avenue, headed for a 7-Eleven store. He never got there.

Allard's relatives from Orlando and South Miami-Dade met with Dinorah Perry, the founder of Missing Children International Ministries, and they persuaded police to reopen the case.

"Somebody somewhere knows something," Perry said. "Back in 1976 there was no DNA, no computer technology. It was not available then."

Carol Allard said, "I would love to … have peace of mind and know where my son is."

There is a $1,000 reward in this case from Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers. Detectives are starting from scratch in this, their oldest missing child case, because there are no records left of missing children before 1978.

Now, all records are kept for 100 years.

Have You Seen Me?
~Nelida Del Valle~

I have been featuring 'Have You Seen Me?' as they arrive in my mailbox. They are indeed those small pictures on the back of junk mail that's often times thrown away, without even a second glance. If you googled Nelida Del Valle because of the "Have You Seen Me?" picture, and that's how you wound up reading this, please take an extra moment, and drop me a line on the comment box.

Details of Disappearance
Del Valle was last seen walking to Blackstone Elementary School on Shamut Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts during the morning hours of December 20, 1976. She was enrolled in a third-grade bilingual class there. The school was located approximately one and a half blocks from Del Valle's family's residence. She never arrived at school that day and has not been heard from again ...

Kara Kopetsky

Happy Birthday, Kara!

Kopetsky, a missing Belton teen, turned 19 yesterday. An anonymous donor had put up $50K if she was returned home safely by that date, so one assumes that money goes away now. Happy Birthday Kara Kopetsky

6/22/08

Officially, Kara is a "missing person endangered."
"It means that there's some concern about her being missing, that we're concerned about her well-being," says Capt. Don Spears of the Belton Police Department. "Specifically, because we've not heard from her, nor have any of her friends or family heard from her."
The concern grew from what police saw in Kara's room, things a runaway might have taken with her. Makeup. Clothes. A carton of Marlboro Lights full except for one pack. She left behind the iPod she got for Christmas and the hair straightener she used every morning.
She planned to interview at QuikTrip the day after she disappeared and had made plans with friends for the next two weekends. Money in her bank account is untouched. She left her debit card in her school locker. But Kara's cell phone, a Motorola Razr she got for her birthday, is missing. It hasn't been used since the morning of May 4. "With a kid that age," Spears said, "that's a concern that the phone's not been on."
Friends doubt that Kara ran away, but police have not ruled out the possibility. Spears says there are no suspects in Kara's disappearance; there's no evidence a crime has been committed. Because she's 17, legal age in Missouri, the police couldn't make her come home even if they found her, Spears says. If Kara wanted to vanish without a trace, he says, she could have found a Web site to tell her how. She could have bought a pay-as-you-go cell phone that can't be tracked. She could have left behind her clothes and that fresh carton of cigarettes on purpose. "It complicates the matter and adds to the frustration," Spears says. "Hopefully we can keep her face out in front of the public."

And yet, her dad worries about the attention. "You kind of go back and forth," Mike Kopetsky says. "If she is trying to come back home, are we putting so much attention on this that she's scared to? All these different possibilities go through your head, and you don't know the right answer. We're all just frustrated … that nobody has said anything yet. Somebody at some point has to say something. What could she be so angry about in her life to where she would have no contact with any family or friends?"

The article states "up to $20,000" offered by the family of Kara. The reward of $25,000 that the Bank of Belton holds, still stands and will continue to grow with the continued support of the area communities and the work of the Find Kara Committee, Helpers, Family & Friends. This website will continue to be updated by the Find Kara Committee with information about upcoming events to raise funds or awareness for Kara Kopetsky. We appreciate the continued support of our efforts to help the family find Kara.

Monday4 The Missing
~Tina & Bethany Sinclair~

FEBRUARY 2ND, 2009 UPDATE!

On February 4, 2001, Tina was 34, and her daughter, Bethany, was 15, and they vanished...they haven't been seen or heard from in eight years! Since my sister and my niece have been gone, so has a part of me. I haven't ever been the same. My heart is broken and so is my spirit. My mother has gradually crumbled as time has passed without her precious daughter and granddaughter. The anger, hatred, confusion, nightmares have shredded through me and made me into a person I don't even recognize anymore! Our family was divided at first for a long time, as nothing was the same. The holidays, birthdays, family gatherings were like a bad dream because Tina and Bethany weren't there.
Missing Tina and Beth (myspace)

Missing Tina and Beth (website) has a lot of information about the case, as well as a family struggling to get through this never-ending nightmare. At one point, someone was cruel enough to remove a memorial in Tina and Beth's name...not once, but TWICE!
Dec 7, 2008 9:10 AM
Memorial

We are going to replace the memorial with the old one today which was stolen Fall of 2007 and recovered Spring of 2008, [in back of a storage shed on the Putney road above the Marina] in Brattleboro, VT. It is still unclear who took it and why they dumped it? but we were grateful to have found it.

A new memorial sign to replace the one that was recently stolen is being recreated by McCarthy signs, as we speak, and will be installed in time for my mother to decorate for Christmas.

And 10 years later... ~Adam Herrman~

~UPDATE~

Butler County Attorney Jan Satterfield says no human remains have been found in the search for Adam Herrman, but there's still a chance for first-degree murder charges, with the underlying crime being child abuse.

"They are the suspects in this case," Butler County Attorney Jan Satterfield said of Doug and Valerie Herrman.

Age progression photo
NCMEC Printable Poster

I first read about the search for a child missing 10 years ago, on Legally Kidnapped.

No, LE is not reopening an old case because of new tips. This is the FIRST TIME anyone has NOTICED that this boy had been missing....for TEN YEARS!

Adam was born on June 8, 1987. He was adopted by Doug and Valerie Herrman, out of foster care, when he was 2 and 1/2 years old. Adam and his adoptive parents lived at Pine Ridge mobile home park in Towanda, Kansas.
A few weeks ago, an annonymous person called the Childrens Missing and Exploited Unit to report Adam missing.
Even though the Herrmans have since moved, Butler County Police are investigating the site where the mobile home once stood. The police are considering them as 'persons of interest' in the case.

"He was a problem child. He ran away frequently to the point of exasperation," Eisenbise said. "My clients feel very guilty that the last time he left they didn't make an attempt to locate him. Every other time, the police were called or he wandered back. They assumed he found one of his siblings or went back to his biological parents."
"They want to say they are innocent of any wrongdoing other than not reporting the child missing, which is an offense in Kansas as you know," he said. "The issue of a possible homicide is what I am troubled with, because they did not do it."

Sure, they feel guilty for not reporting an eleven year old child as missing...guilty enough to continue claiming Adam as a dependent for tax purposes! A 'run away-problem child' at the young age of 11 screams of trouble in the home!
As of yet, investigators have not confirmed whether or not Adam had a history of running away.
Adam was being homeschooled at the time of his disappearance.

Sheriff Craig Murphy says they are treating the case as a death investigation. But he says there's no evidence to prove he's dead and Adam may be out there somewhere. Murphy says by investigating it as a death, they cover a lot more information. Murphy says they've done computer data searches on Adam and nothing comes up on him after 1999.

Adam would be 21 years old now.

Several eye witness interviews with family members, including Adams adoptive brother, mention Adam being abused. These family members were told that Adam was returned to foster care, so nobody realized he was missing.

Friday, 09 January 2009
The family of a missing Towanda boy continued to collect money from the state for caring for the boy after he disappeared. The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services could not immediately determine how much money in adoption subsidies Valerie and Doug Herrman received after Adam Herrman disappeared in 1999. He was 11 at the time, but he never was reported missing. Authorities only recently began searching for him after receiving a tip. So far no arrests have been made or charges filed. Welfare officials also disclosed yesterday that Adam once was taken away from the Herrmans after a claim of physical abuse was made. He was returned two days later after authorities were unable to substantiate the allegations.

Endangered Missing 1998 ~ 2000

This is NOT the entire list of missing children from 1998-2001. At this time, there are approximately 721 Endangered Missing cases listed with NCMEC.
81 of those cases are 1998-2000.
The link for each missing child listed here, is the direct link to a
NCMEC printable poster.

If you live near any of these locations, have a printer, and have the time to pass out a few flyers, you could very well save a life someday! Your help is appreciated!
Thank You!
