After seeing this Milk Carton on a Myspace bulletin, I just had to know more! I proceeded to My Milk Carton to scope out the site. My first observation is that this site is quite new, so I did what any nosey blogger would do... I dropped admin an email. With Milkman's permission, here is a bit of our conversation.

[Mammabear]:I've been following/posting the story of Jessie Foster for quite sometime now.
Now this Milk Carton??? What a FANTASTIC idea!
Could you explain more of yourself and this project, please? I'd love to post info for this, and think I know of many who would be interested. (but no offense, since this appears to be new, I'd like some reassurance that this isn't somehow a scam.

[Milkman]:I don't have any missing persons in my life exactly, however, I have used the Internet to search for someone and know how difficult it can be. This site was actually started as part of a class I was taking, and then the idea bloomed.
At first I wanted to make a site where people could re-connect with someone from their past. But the more I looked around on the Internet, I realized that I could do something much more worthwhile and help people find their missing loved ones. Reading the stories of other people searches has driven me to create this milk carton site.

[Mammabear]:
I like the idea that this milk carton would pop up randomly. Is that really an option? Would certian areas be targeted? Like a tri-state area of where the person went missing, or something like that? Or is it pop up by the sites who host Milk Carton? If so, do you have any particular sites in mind?

[Milkman]:
I assure you this is not a scam in any way. Basically the idea is that the site is supposed to be a free place where anyone can post a milk carton for their missing person.
As far as the milk carton ads, my current plan is to simply run them as Google ads.
Just have a picture on a milk carton and have it show up on pages that contain advertisements. This is what I meant by 'pop-up' on various pages all over the Internet. Maybe one day I can make them be actual "pop-ups" but I'm not there yet. They would simply be regular internet ads.
I wasn't planning on targeting specific demographics or sites, because I think it would be better to show them to the 'general public'. It may be possible to target specific states near the disappearance, I'm not sure yet.

My Milk Carton

Posting a milk carton is FREE and it is an easy way to help you find someone.

Upgrade Milk Carton
If you want to take your search to the next level, you can upgrade your milk carton. This will put your milk carton on advertisements all over the Internet. TO CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF THIS SITE, THE FIRST 5 MILK CARTONS WILL BE UPGRADED FOR FREE!

I'm not saying that people shouldn't have made efforts to search for this beautiful little girl, Caylee. In fact, It's amazing how many people jumped in there with offers of prayer, help, and donations, when news of Caylee's disappearance first surfaced.
What I'm asking is why all missing children and persons aren't given the same attention, regardless of age, gender, race, or monetary/social backgrounds?
My prayers for the family members who did this beautiful angel Caylee no harm, and all the sudden finds that their entire world has been ripped apart.

I think my sentiments are best summed by a bulletin I saw on Myspace:

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: For The Missing - Pacific Northwest
Date: Aug 28, 2008 7:19 PM

To those posting bulletins for Caylee Anthony:

First of all I want to say thank you! All of us find that one special case that grabs us and draws us in to help, and I'm sure Caylee's family and all of those looking for her are extremely grateful for any help

Now that the news is coming out that little Caylee may not be with us anymore, please don't let that discourage you, Please don't let Caylee's case be the only one for you

What better way to help more than to re-focus your energy to help other missing kids...in honor and memory of Caylee, Maybe pick a missing child from your area and make them your new focus, See if they have a MySpace page set up for them and add it to your top friends, Let your experience with posting for Caylee have a positive carryover for other missing people

After all, ALL MISSING PERSONS DESERVE TO BE FOUND, not just the ones in the spotlight

If you want to do this and aren't sure how to find a missing person close to your area, send me a message and I'll be happy to help you find one, And once again, thank you to all who have been helping, posting, etc

~Audrey

Rose Faeflen Missing

I came across this missing young lady via Black and Missing but NOT Forgotten.
I wanted an extra picture of her, so I proceeded to NCMEC. For some reason, even though it seems she has been listed as missing since August 9th, I cannot locate a profile for her on NCMEC...I'm not sure why?

Police are seeking help in locating a 15-year-old girl who ran away from her township home earlier this month.
Rose Faeflen was last seen on Aug. 9.
Police think she may be in the Trenton area, or possibly the Bristol area of Bucks County, Pa. Read more...

Message In A Bottle (Sigourney Chisholm)

(Written May 17, 2007)
As I write this it has been 14 years to the day that I last saw my daughter. As a family we continue to be committed to finding Sigourney and letting her enjoy the patriarchal side of her family. I don't, nor does any one in our family mean Patricia any harm. As The Missing Children's Society of Canada says, "Parental abduction is never about 'what's in the child's best interest.' It's always about power and misguided revenge." I am not in a power struggle with Patricia. I just want to do my part in Sigourney's life and re-acquaint her with the side of her family that she's been deprived of.In our search we have followed Patricia to British Columbia , London and Tunbridge Wells in the UK and we now believe that they may both be in Spain. We are grateful to all the people who have come forward with information and well wishes.
(Date:18 Aug 2008)
The Sigourney Chronicles, Video Blog # 2 is now out and for the first time we have footage of Sigourney with her mom, Patricia O'Byrne. Please feel free to pass this on and encourage friends to do the same. It is our hope that this "message in a bottle" can become 1,000 messages in bottles, and one of these messages finds it's way to Sigourney or someone who can help reunite us with her.
Well, Patricia, where ever you are, you're famous now - the world debut is here at last - lol.

Some of you may have seen some of this footage on THE SIGOURNEY CHRONICLES Blog # 2 which was posted to YouTube.

The point of this video is that I believe Patricia is very distinctive, her voice, her mannerisms, her appearance. If some one has come across her, they'll recognize her. If you could be so good, please pass this on to anyone you know in Canada, USA, The UK or Spain especially. These are all places Patricia has been since she left with Sigourney 15 years ago.

Myspace, Bebo, YouTube, Facebook and people like you are our best hope to resolve this case.

Any feedback would be welcome. Here's the links for the Sigourney Chronicles: Conversations from dad to daughter. #3 will feature Jesse, Sigourney's brother.

Christopher (Chris) Coan

September 3rd, 2008 will mark one year. One year of family and friends searching for Chris Coan. One year of wondering where Chris is, and how he is doing.
One year of family and friends having many questions, with few answers.
Have YOU seen Chris Coan?

Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Missing Since: September 3, 2007 from Enoch, Utah
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: August 6, 1989
Age: 18
Height: 5'5"-5'6"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Hair Color: Blond
Eye Color: Blue
Race: White
Gender: Male

Distinguishing Characteristics:
Slender build, beautiful eyes, shoulder length hair.

Medical Conditions:
Suffered a head injury as a child;impedes his ability to focus at times.

Clothing: Green t-shirt, black corduroy pants.
AKA: "Chris"

Details of Disappearance:
Chris left the Subway sandwich shop in Enoch where he works at 8:15 on Monday night, September 3, 2007. He did not go home, and no one has seen him since. Chris' live-in girlfriend, reported him missing the following day. His car, a 1994 red and silver Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, license number 78596, is also missing. Police have conducted both ground and aerial searches, but they have been unsuccessful. When investigators searched Christopher's workstation at Subway, they discovered a piece of paper on which he had written the numbers "208," which police believe may be part of a phone number; however, it is unknown if it's an area code or the first three digits of a number. "208" is the area code for Idaho.
A truck driver reported seeing Chris' truck on September 8, 2007 at a Sinclair gas station near Park City, Utah. The truck driver was able to accurately describe his truck, including three stickers on the back window. One says "The Wizz cartoon," another says "Jerry Bear," and the third says "Beatles." Unfortunately, the security cameras at the gas station weren't all in working order, so the sighting cannot be confirmed. The location is approximately 246 miles from Enoch.
Chris enjoys reading, and doesn't watch a lot of television. He had little, if any, money with him, and there has been no activity on his bank account.

No Body Murders

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Wednesday night, War on Crime Radio with special co-host, domestic violence expert/author Susan Murphy-Milano, had a very informative and insightful live show with special guest and "No Body Prosecution" expert attorney,
Thomas A. DiBiase.
For over 12 years, Tad worked as Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia and prosecuted homicide cases for most of those years. The mysterious cases of Stacy Peterson, Lilly Aramburo, and Trenton Duckett were discussed.
Tad DiBiase offered his professional opinion and advice concerning Lilly's disappearance. He agrees, that police should have zeroed in on Christen Pacheco (her boyfriend & last person to see her alive) from the very beginning.

Where Is Michael Tapley?

Shirley Tapley has a green, three-ring binder filled with notes, fliers and phone numbers. It’s an accumulation of some of the efforts the Mesa woman and her family have made in trying to find her 51-year-old son, Michael Tapley, who disappeared Feb. 15 after leaving work as a school bus driver in Snowflake.

Tapley’s granddaughter, Christine Tapley, and her fiance have logged hundreds of hours, thousands of miles and spoken with countless people searching in rural areas of Arizona and Missouri for clues to his mysterious disappearance.

“For probably two weeks I sat at this table with this book and this phone, calling people and taking calls,” said Shirley Tapley, the binder spread out before her.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office has stopped working on the case, even though it remains open. But the Tapleys haven’t ended their quest to find Michael. Read More

Missing Mom, Rachel Conger

On Thursday, March 13, 2008, thirteen-year-old Amber Simmons awoke to a day that would change her life forever. Her mother, Rachel Conger, was missing and Amber has since been doing everything that she can to help find her mother.

On April 13, Amber organized a candlelight vigil at the Henry County Court House to honor and pray for her mother to be found. Since the first month of her mother’s disappearance, Amber has since turned her attention to raising money to bring in professional search organizations to help find her mother, Rachel Conger.

Her daughter, Amber, is the driving force behind each event to help find her mother whom she dearly misses. She had this to say to the community; ''I really want my mom found; she means the world to me."

In the planning stages is a benefit concert, which is set to be held on September 6th, at Casey Jones Village/Old Country Store Amphitheater in Jackson, TN. The concert is scheduled to start at 5PM.
(more details about performers and other information, will be available in the next several days).

State police: No comment on Seymour excavation

Authorities still won't say why they dug a hole in the yard at 161 Bungay Road in Seymour on Saturday. They also are making it difficult to determine which police agency is coordinating the excavation, or why.
State, local and federal authorities descended on the property Saturday, and spent the day digging in the yard. On Sunday no police officers could be seen on the property, and the driveway leading to it was blocked by a gate.
Lt. J. Paul Vance, a state police spokesman, said he could not comment on the investigation because the Federal Bureau of Investigation is handling the case. The FBI says it's only assisting state and local police with an investigation, according to David M. Rhieu, an FBI representative.
Rhieu wouldn't comment on why authorities spent the day using two excavators to dig a hole in the ground.According to Vance, more information might be available today.

A Plea for HELP from Jessie Foster's Mom

PLEASE HELP ME. My Canadian daughter, Jessie Foster, born in Calgary, AB and raised mostly in Kamloops, BC went missing from her home at 1009 Cornerstone Place, North Las Vegas, NV USA (who goes missing from their home???) on March 29, 2006.

Jessie's case is in the hands of the Serious Crimes Division with the RCMP and she is an endangered missing person with the North Las Vegas police. Jessie's case info is also in the hands of ATLAS (unofficially - as without someone to come forward and testify in court...Jessie is not 'officially' a human trafficking victim). ATLAS is the Anti-Trafficking League Against Slavery task force in Las Vegas. They get every single bit of info that goes to the police. There is also a human trafficking office in British Columbia who has been informed of Jessie's case and the Edmonton Police Service is very well aware of who Jessica Foster is and also who Donald Vaz is (the person who took my daughter to the USA and the person we believe who is involved in what happened to Jessie after that).

Jessie's story has been told on the Geraldo Rivera at Large show on April 24, 2006; on the Maury Povich show on October 11, 2007; on the Montel Williams show on May 24, 2007 and updated on July 8, 2008. These shows have also been shown repeatedly over time. Her story has been told in dozens of newspaper articles and on TV & radio news and it is all over the Internet - just try Googling her name - you will get pages and pages of 10 links each with nothing but stories about my missing daughter. Go to www.google.ca or www.google.com and using quotation marks; type in: "missing Jessie Foster".

Jessie's story was going to be told on the Dr. Phil show, but I do not know what has happened with that. I still hope to hear back from them. And the Steve Wilkos show was interested in doing a show about Jessie's story, but decided to hold off on it...I also still hope to hear back from them.

Jessie's story came out last year in a Canadian book by author Lisa Wojna called: MISSING! The Disappeared, Lost or Abducted in Canada. Her story will also be told in another book: info TBA. And there is a cookbook coming out that will have stories of the missing with the recipes and Jessie's story will also be in that book.

We are waiting to hear when the National Enquirer will be printing the story they are doing about Jessie. I already did the interview with the reporter and we are waiting to hear when the paper will be printing it. They are not just doing a story...the reporter told me she talked to her editor about Jessie and they plan to do an appeal for Jessie. We are very grateful to this.

For more info on our case, we have a lot of info available. Our website is: www.jessiefoster.ca and we have a NowPublic site: http://members.nowpublic.com/jessiesmomglendene, a Facebook account for me: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1206576945 and for Jessie: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=608198642, a MySpace account: http://www.myspace.com/jessiesmomglendene and I have a blog: http://jessiefoster.blogspot.com/.

I do NOT stop my search for Jessie even for a day. If I am not talking to people about her case, I am sending messages to people to try to get more help. Whether it is from the police, the public, the media or an investigator. We pretty well talk to anyone who wants to listen. We fundraise to keep the investigation going and to have a reward. We have a $50,000 reward now; thanks to Jessie's father Dwight adding $40,000 to the $10,000 we raised. We will also continue to fundraise and we will continue to raise the reward if we need to.

WE NEED TO FIND JESSIE. She has me, her step-dad Jim, 3 sisters, 1 niece (just born on December 26, 2007) and I another of her sisters is due to have a baby December 28, 2008. JESSIE NEEDS TO BE FOUND...her sisters and their children need her, I NEED HER. Jessie also has her dad & step-mom Tracy and 2 step-sisters. They both are married and one has 3 children & one has 1 child. Jessie has only met 1 of her nephews & nieces. Jessie also has her grandpa (my dad), her grandma (her dad's mom), her step-grandpa (Jim's dad) and her step-grandma (Tracy's mom), numerous aunts, uncles and cousins...way to many to even try to name, for fear of missing anyone.

Jessie is a very popular person...during elementary and high school Jessie was always involved in sports, dance, work, family & friends. She has hundreds of people who know and love her who are waiting for her return and THOUSANDS of others who have come to love and pray for Jessie every day. WE NEED TO FIND JESSIE.

The Search for Brandon Swanson Continues!

The search for 19 year old Brandon Swanson, missing from Marshall, Minnesota continues. Brandon has been missing since May 14, 2008.

This past weekend searches were done on a couple of river and stream sections hoping to find some evidence of Brandon's direction of travel from his car. It's with heavy heart that I tell you that we found nothing that tells us anything for sure. We do not plan a search for this coming weekend.(August 9-10)

However we will be conducting a group search on the weekend of August 16th & 17th.
Search Director Gary Peterson and Sheriff Jack Vizecky will be coordinating and have asked that searchers meet at the Taunton Fire Hall at 8:30 a.m. We will be searching the ditches, rivers and stream areas that are of high interest.
The more volunteers the better. Please come prepared to walk through tall grass & marsh areas as well as river/stream sections.

There will also be a Search and Recovery K-9 Unit out of Anoka County. Their search will begin on Friday the 15th through Sunday. They will be searching areas of interest as well as sending a cadaver dog in a boat to expand the river search father east on the Yellow Medicine River.

Boy In The Box

URGENT ASSISTANCE NEEDED: If you are age 55 or beyond and you knew, or remember knowing of, a young boy two years old or younger (possibly named Jonathan) in the very early 1950s, living in or within a 40-mile radius of Philadelphia, or if you are or were a physician ( perhaps now retired ) who may have treated such a boy for a condition that would have left resultant scars in the groin area and the ankles ( IV cutdowns ), you are asked to Email such information to our website address (americasunknownchild@vidocq.org). You will be contacted via Email, and your information will be held in the strictest confidence.
The "Boy in the Box" case attracted both local and national media attention when the story broke in February, 1957, and police initially assumed that the identity of the unknown boy would be determined very quickly. Hundreds of thousands of posters bearing the slain boy's image and physical description were prominently displayed throughout the Philadelphia area. They were also distributed to thousands of police departments around the country. The detectives working the case in 1957 even dressed the body in typical children's clothing and posed it in a sitting position in the hope that this "lifelike" image of the boy might cause someone to recognize him and come forward.

For thorough documentation, Please take time to go through the different pages of case history, pictures, news archives, and more at: America's Unknown Child.

DNA, and a Quilt of Hope

What could DNA and a Quilt possibly have in common? If you ask Janice Smolinski that question, she'd probably say Hope.
Patrick Waller became the 18th inmate from Dallas County cleared by DNA testing.
DNA is where the answer to Boulder's most notorious unsolved murder, the case of JonBenet Ramsey may be found. And investigators hope new evidence will finally lead to a break in the case.
The University of North Texas determines unknown human DNA samples against a DNA National Database of know samples.
This technology is a new hope for Janice Smolinski, mother of
William (Billy) Smolinski , missing since August 24 of 2004. Even though homicide is suspect, DNA testing could hold the key to many unanswered questions.
There are thousands of children and adults missing, who have loved ones searching for them. Newer DNA technology can very well help identify some of the unknown that are stored in morgues across the country, giving some families at least a chance of closure.

Janice is also the creator of The Quilt of Hope. This quilt brings some of these families of the missing together, stitch by stitch. And patch by patch, these families have a chance to tell their story of a loved one gone missing.

New Evidence
~Jaliek Rainwalker~
Disappearance

On Tuesday afternoon, local and state police executed a search warrant on the East Greenwich home where the boy
(Jaliek Rainwalker) lived with his adoptive parents before his disappearance last November 1st.

Cambridge-Greenwich Police Chief George Bell returned from that raid with one brown evidence bag.Police won't say what this new evidence is but they will confirm that it is connected to the night Rainwalker vanished.

The search of 54 Ravens Way in East Greenwich happened just minutes after Barbara Reeley, Rainwalker's adoptive grandmother, pleaded not guilty to a charge that she entered that home without permission last week.Washington County sheriff's deputies charged Reeley with one felony count of burglary.

Located After a 32 Year Search (A Story of Hope)

It seems we live in a time where people don't really WANT to hear good news.
Betrayal, Crime, and Murder...the more bizarre, the better. No common news, puh-leeze!
Whether it be an uplifting inspiration for others or not,
heartwarming news just don't seem to cut it in the media industry . Why?
Why is it that in general, people seem to cling to stories that scream of despair? Do we really feed on the misery of others?
Working with missing persons/children, I dig for information to help pass along. At times, I find myself on message forums. I can't help but notice page after page of comments dedicated to one missing person's case alone, on some of these boards.
Some people post in an effort to help generate awareness...some post to voice their opinion, many people find message boards a great way to offer their best wishes and prayers...and, it seems, some people post just to read their own writing. All of this is fine. It's a free country, eh?
BUT, tell me, Where is a message forum for Maxine Schleisner?
Who?
Exactly! THAT's my point.
So many offers of prayer, yet when do we take the time to post, Thanking that same God for a prayer answered?
I'm not even sure how I stumbled across this beautiful story of hope and answered prayer, but here goes:

My daughter was parentally kidnapped in 1975 by her father. We were not married. There was no formal custody at the time. In those days if you had possession you had custody. Not anymore thanks to many women like me who fought long and hard for this right. He didn't show up in court to turn her over to me as the judge would have done with the paternity papers I was holding and the fact that he paid nothing up to that point. There was a warrant put out for him. He fled to Florida from New York. He raised our daughter without me and I didn't find her for thirty two years. She is thirty five now.
Now you tell me, is this news worthy? Shouldn't this be one of those happy ending stories you like to hear about on the news? Should someone step up to the plate and say, WOW that is something great to hear about. I just need to know the truth. Is it just me or is this great news?

Testimony: The aftermath of parental kidnapping and why the media ignores it

Thank you, Maxine for sharing this more than incredible story of hope...for those who sometimes feel bogged down in a sea hopelessness.
